#021 | Freedom is monetarily and emotionally expensive

Weekly newsletter on Natural Language Processing (#NLP365), Entrepreneurship, and Life Design content!

Hey friends,

To me, Freedom is:

to be able to do what ever you want, how ever you want, AND when ever you want

Out of three aspects of freedom, the one that we have the least control over is WHEN we want to do something.

If you want to travel to Asia and stay around for the next 6 months starting next week, would you be able to do it?

If you want to do nothing for the next 6 months starting next week, would you be able to do it?

If you want to do X next week, would you be able to do it?

The answer depends on what X is, but most probably you won’t be able to do it.

Why?

Most of us structure our lives around our 9 - 5 jobs. In exchange for some monetary salary ad stability, we give up some of our most valuable asset TIME. Out of 24 hours, assuming we sleep 8 hours, we are giving up at least 50% of our remaining waking up time to an external organisation, allowing them to control what we do, how we do it, and when we do it!

To gain our freedom back, aka more control over our time, we need to escape the 9 - 5 job mentality.

But freedom isn’t free. Freedom is expensive, monetarily and emotionally.

Freedom means quitting your well paid job and making 200% less pursuing something you are passionate for.

Freedom means abandoning the stability of a job and dealing with the uncertainty of starting your own venture and taking up the high risk that you might fail. You live life in your own terms.

The question is how much are you willing to pay for your freedom?

This week I am reading:

Total: 36 / 26 books | 3 / 26 level 4 notes | 2 / 12 actions

For May 2021, we are working on new habits that surrounds the theme of wellness and health. This involves forming at least one of the three daily habits:

  1. Read for at least 2 minutes

  2. Exercise for at least 2 minutes

  3. Sleep for at least 7 hours
