Mystery Gift Box #014 | New Orleans + NeurIPS 2022

The best hidden gems I've found; interesting ideas and concepts, thought-provoking questions, mind-blowing books/podcasts, cool animes/films, and other mysteries ❤️

Hey friends,

This week has been both insightful and adventurous (and lots of food)!

One of my papers got accepted to the NeurIPS workshop and so I flew to New Orleans for a week to attend the NeurIPS 2022 conference as well as to do the poster session.

Spoke to many academics from around the world and got to know a few that I would definitely keep in touch with..

Heavily inspired by the quality of research these people have produced and learned a lot about their work and aspiration; even came across something that I could potentially use for my research!

It was very insightful.

Here are some papers that I found interesting / to explore further:

  1. No Free Lunch from Deep Learning in Neuroscience: A Case Study through Models of the Entorhinal-Hippocampal Circuit

  2. Inherently Explainable Reinforcement Learning in Natural Language

  3. Learn to Explain: Multimodal Reasoning via Thought Chains for Science Question Answering

  4. Self-explaining deep models with logic rule reasoning

  5. Knowledge Distillation: Bad Models Can Be Good Role Models

  6. Reconstructing Training Data From Trained Neural Networks

  7. Deep Differentiable Logic Gate Networks

  8. CGLB: Benchmark Tasks for Continual Graph Learning

  9. Inductive Logical Query Answering in Knowledge Graphs

  10. How Powerful are K-hop Message Passing Graph Neural Networks

  11. Explaining Graph Neural Networks with Structure-Aware Cooperative Games

  12. Learning to Follow Instructions in Text-Based Games

  13. Neural Temporal Walks: Motif-Aware Representation Learning on Continuous-Time Dynamic Graphs

New Orleans Fooood

Exploring New Orleans was fun; tasted many local cuisines… smoothie king was fire… (so much so that I didn’t take any photos of it)
