Mystery Gift Box #016 | The Rider and the Horse

The best hidden gems I've found; interesting ideas and concepts, thought-provoking questions, mind-blowing books/podcasts, cool animes/films, and other mysteries ❤️

Hey friends,

Less than 2 weeks till the end of the year.

2022 annual review is coming up.

I am excited for this year’s annual review as there are few major changes and growth lessons to reflect deeper on… it has been a tough but good year ♥️

🏇🏽 The Rider and the Horse

A short one this week but I want to share a mental model of the rider and the horse.

The rider is our thinking self.

The horse is our emotional nature.

One without the other is useless.

The horse without the rider means you won’t have any directed movement or purpose… your actions are controlled purely by your emotions…

The rider without the horse means you won’t have any emotional passion or power…

In most people, the rider is weak and the horse dominates…

In some people, the rider is too strong and lacks emotional drives…

The ideal is for the rider and the horse to work together.

This means as a rider you should think as much as possible before making any decision but once you have decided on something, you let yourself loose and enter the arena with boldness and curiosity.

You can’t separate emotions from thinking. Your goal is to learn to channel your emotions instead of letting it push you to where they want you to be 🔥
