Mystery Gift Box #024 | 6 Non-Negotiable Habits I Do Everyday, Cirque Du Soleil, & More

The best hidden gems I've found; interesting ideas and concepts, thought-provoking questions, mind-blowing books/podcasts, cool animes/films, and other mysteries ❤️

Hey friends,

You are what you consistently do.

I have tested out many different habits; some worked, some not so much. It’s important to find a set of habits that connect with your inner values and personality.

After years of experimenting, here are currently my 6 non-negotiable habits that I do every single day:

  1. Journalling — morning and evening

  2. Reading — at least an hour a day

  3. Workout — at least once a day (okay, Sunday is my rest day)

  4. Think and Synthesise — capture thoughts, reflect on learnings, connecting information, create actionable plans etc

  5. Inner Work — can be as simple as a self-reminder to be kinder to myself to doing a 2-hour long exercise to reconnect with childhood experiences

  6. Spread Love — do something good to the world

I hit habit 1 - 4 before 9am most days. Each habit serves a purpose for me; either physical, intellectual, and/or emotional & spiritual aspects.

There’s no one habit I would recommend.

Habits are personal and there’s no right or wrong habits despite how society likes to categorise them. For instance, I love to read and listen to audiobooks and in my opinion, it’s one of the best way to gain knowledge. But it’s not the only way to gain knowledge and it might not work for you.

And NO MEDITATION for me. I don’t care what people say about the benefits and all, I haven’t been able to connect with it and it hasn’t work for me so far.

Choose habits that connect with your inner world 🎭

I will be testing out a new habit soon as part of the 4-4-4 exploration project. More on this when time comes 🔥

🎪 February Exploration — Cirque Du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil: KURIOS - Cabinet of Curiosities

This month, for the 4-4-4 exploration project, I chose to experience the Cirque Du Soleil show.

I always wanted to watch one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows but never taken the action and always deprioritise them. The show lasted 2 hours and left me in awe of the amazing acts these people have to perform 🤯

Would be cool to experience the life of a circus artist 👀

A self-awareness moment was when I realised if I want to get myself to prioritise experience like this, I have to make the experience align with my highest level of core values.

🎉 A Moment of Celebration

I started BJJ back in September 2022.

At my dojo gym, you need to take and pass an exam to be able to attend the intermediate/advanced class. The exam is a list of fundamental moves that we need to execute.

After 5 months of training, I passed the BJJ exam and earned my first stripe! 🔥

All those BJJ classes has made me lost so much weight… I am less than 80kg right now… Time to bulk back up over the next 3 - 4 months! 💪🏼

⛰ 4-4-4 Exploration Project

Each month, I would explore one new thing; a skill, a subject, or an experience.

January 2023: Writing and Storytelling (Subject)

February 2023: KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities (Cirque Du Soleil — Experience)
